Cougar First Impressions (CFI) is an annual "Welcome to UH" experience sponsored by Staff Council and is held the first two days of each Fall semester.

This year’s event took place in-person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, and Tuesday, August 20, 2024, to provide students with a safe and gradual transition to campus. We are always so excited to welcome you back to campus!

Cougar First Impressions turned 27 this year!

 

 

  • Fall 2023 CFI

    Cougar First Impressions welcomed students to campus with cool water and frozen treats on August 21st and 2nd. This year's theme was "Innovation is the name of our student success game".

    CFI hosted 14 tents in key locations across the University of Houston campus to provide students with a safe and gradual transition to campus. UH at Sugar Land and UH at Katy campuses also welcomed students.

  • CFI By the Numbers

    Over 300 UH staff volunteers from across campus worked together to provide admitted and returning students with resources, cold water, and directions to class.
    • Answered more than 18,583 student inquiries
    • Provided students with 17,280 bottles of cold water
    • Served 10,224 frozen treats
    • Volunteers worked over 600 hours during the 2 days of CFI

    • UH at Katy Campus volunteers welcomed over 220 students
    • Volunteers at the UH at Sugar Land campus had over 2,150 student interactions

    Cougar Card Office

    The Cougar Card is the official campus access card. The Cougar Card integrates a number of functions for daily usage on campus, including the ability to print documents, buy snacks at the campus convenience stores, vending machines, purchase meals, gain access to academic or administrative buildings and rooms, athletic events, special events, both on and off-campus residential housing and the recreation and wellness center.

  • FAQs for UH at Sugar Land

    Do I need a parking permit to park at UH at Sugar Land and where can I purchase a permit?

    Any valid UH parking permit is accepted to park on-site.  There is a self-pay visitor parking lot (Lot 4) on-site if you do not have a permit; credit cards accepted only.  Please call the UH Parking and Transportation Department at 832-842-1097 for assistance and to get more info on how to purchase a permit.  

     

    Is there an enrollment services office and financial aid office on-site?

    For student services such as admissions, financial aid, student billing, and academic records, please contact 713-743-1010 for assistance.

     

    Can I get my Cougar Card on-site?

    Please contact the UH Main Cougar Card Office at 832-842-2273 for assistance in obtaining a Cougar Card.

     

    Where is the computer lab located on-site and what are the hours the lab is open?

    The computer lab is located on the third floor of the AMG building.  Please visit the IT service desk in room 304 AMG to use the computer lab.  The hours of the computer lab are subject to change.  Please call the IT service desk at 832-842-2999 for lab hours and for all other IT-related assistance.  

     

    I need to speak with my advisor.  How do I get in contact with them?

    Due to COVID-19, most advisors will be meeting by appointment only and through video conference.  You may call the college your degree program is through to get in contact with your advisor or call UH at Sugar Land’s main line at 832-842-2900 for assistance.       

     

    Will there be shuttle service to the main campus this semester?

    Due to COVID-19, some services may be suspended or limited.  Please contact UH Parking and Transportation Department at 832-842-1097 for more info. 

     

    Does UH at Sugar Land have a bookstore?

    UH at Sugar Land does not have a bookstore on-site. However, the UH Main Campus carries textbooks for UH at Sugar Land courses. For more information, please contact the UH Main Campus Bookstore at 713-741-7095 or visit https://www.bkstr.com/houstonstore.

     

    What dining options are available on site?

    There are several dining options onsite such as Cougar Corner in Brazos Hall, food trucks, and vending.  However, due to COVID – 19, dining options will be limited.  Please call UH at Sugar Land at 832-842-2900 to check daily availability.

     

    What student services are available on-site?

    A representative from the UH Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is on-site by appointment only.  Please contact CAPS at 713-743-5454 to schedule an appointment.  A representative from Career Services is on-site by appointment and can be contacted at 713-743-5091.
