  • Research Finds No Easy Answers to Use of Drug Screening for Pain Patients

    Doctors who treat patients suffering from chronic pain face a quandary, according to research from the University of Houston and the University of Texas Medical Branch. Monitoring patients through urine drug screenings, part of the standard protocol to ensure patient safety, is associated with an increase in the odds that the patients won’t return for future treatment.

    New research suggests that ravens – birds singled out by many cultures as a symbol of intelligence and wisdom – share at least some of the human ability to think abstractly about other minds, adapting their behavior by attributing their own perceptions to others.

  • Iran Nuclear Agreement: Did the U.S. Win or Lose?

    A panel of experts will discuss the potential impact of the Iran nuclear agreement on the United States – including the impact on energy markets – at the University of Houston later this month.
