2020 DSAES Awards Recipients
Every year the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Services conducts an awards ceremony to honor and recognize professional and student staff members for the exemplary work within their respective department.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the division chose to hold a virtual awards ceremony rather than the banquet. For the 2019-2020 school year, over 400 full-time staff across our division participated, and our professional and student staff members were one of the 94 nominations received this year!
We want to say congrats to staff members from our very own department on their well-deserved recognition! Norma Lara Cisneros, Cody Rickards, & Joseph Secrest were explicitly chosen by the awards committee to be recipients of such prestigious awards.
Congrats to Norma on being recognized with the DSAES Diversity and Inclusion Award! Norma received this award because she promotes the acceptance and celebration of differences and builds an environment of inclusivity and a culture of respect where others can engage, learn, teach, and develop cultural competence. As on of the Co-Chairs of Campus Recreation’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Norma champions our team forward with initiatives, programs, and services to provide an inclusive environment for our staff, students, and fellow members the UH community.
Congrats to Cody Rickards on being recognized with the DSAES Student Employee Award of Excellence! Cody received this award as a student employee who demonstrates strengths in UH Campus Recreation and has made a positive impact on behalf of the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services. As one of the Building Supervisors on our Operations team, Cody exemplifies the model Campus Recreation employee by providing quality customer service, exhibiting a positive attitude, and an unrelenting dedication to this department.
Congrats to Joseph Secrest on being recognized with the DSAES Student Success Award! Joseph received this award for his leadership in developing a dynamic and diverse culture that facilitates learning and engages students. Joseph has transformed and nurtured our students into the leaders of our community and beyond. Joseph tirelessly cares about student success because he understands that isn’t just a statistic used to describe GPA’s, retention rates, or even persistence. Student Success is about the student as a whole and about who they are as a person and citizen.
We are so proud of our staff for their excellent work as a part of Campus Recreation and the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Services! Keep up the great work!
