Women on Weights

Women on Weights teaches women proper weight-lifting etiquette, technique and routine. The goals are to assist women in improving posture, increasing strength and optimizing body composition. Be comfortable in the weight room by learning how to lift weights and build strength in a private small group setting.

Downsizing

Downsizing through movement is an 8-week program that uses a three-pronged approach to helping participants bring their body fat percentage to a healthy range by providing education, activity, and behavior change support. Trainers and dietitians specifically pursue the target behavior by integrating in-depth knowledge, consistent exercise, proper nutrition, and healthy behavior into their lives.

Self-Defense

Join this workshop to help increase your awareness skills and build a solid foundation for avoiding a bad situation.  Personal protection does not need to be fancy; we keep it simple to keep you safe.

Learn how to increase your awareness skills, build on techniques for avoiding physical threats, and establish a solid foundation for safe kicking, punching, and falling. Register at myrec.uh.edu

Powerlifting 101

Powerlifting 101 is an 8-week program that structures out a program based on improving maximal strength in the Back Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift. The course will be led by a Certified Powerlifting Coach to encompass proper technique, programming, and guided instruction in a small group format.
