Individual & Corporate Contributions
Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Annual Gift Fund
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences maintains two UNIX workstation teaching labs, extensive geophysical, geological and GIS software, several world-class analytical labs, a unique seismic acoustic lab, and "state of the art" field equipment. All are important to our teaching and research mission. These facilities are increasingly complex and expensive, requiring constant upgrades and repair. In addition, we run active field programs as part of our undergraduate courses, which place significant cost burdens on both the Department and our students. Field expenses largely apply only to geology students in the College, and expenses listed above are not covered by State appropriations. We are constantly attempting to maintain and upgrade up to date equipment and software that changes rapidly.
The Annual Gift Fund helps the Department and students to defray some of these costs on a yearly basis. Contributions can be made for specific goals mentioned above or represent unspecified gifts. In kind contribution of surplus workstations, servers, software or analytical equipment are also appreciated.
In addition, we are attempting to build several endowments as longer-term solutions. These include:
- Graduate Fellowship Endowments
- Undergraduate Scholarship Endowments
- Equipment Endowment
- Field Trip Endowment
