Summer 2018
My experience at Chevron? FANTASTIC. Within the two summer internships, I have been able to get a good understanding of what it's like to be a Chevron employee. The culture at this company is so welcoming and inclusive that the only times I really feel like an intern is when I'm at one of the many intern events that are hosted throughout the summer. These events range from oil and gas workshops to social outings at Dave & Busters and are created specifically for all 166 interns to get to know more about the industry and company while helping us get to know one another. It's been an amazing experience to meet and form friendships with students from all across the country!
That's not to say it's all fun and games throughout the summer (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Working with the Finance department, and Chevron Pipeline and Power last summer has been challenging yet full of great learning opportunities. Each summer I have found that I am not seen as someone to go on coffee runs, but instead as a pair of fresh eyes and asset to the team. For example, the work I am doing now with the Robotics Process Automation team within Finance is work I would be doing as a full-time employee as well - with a little extra help and guidance of course! At the end of the summer, I'll be doing a presentation about the work I did throughout my time here and how that added value to the department and company. I'm excited to make the most of it, deliver my best, and show what UH students are made of!
