UHCOP Confers 114 Pharm.D., Ph.D. and M.S. Degrees to Academic Year 2024-25 Graduating Students
May 12 – The University of Houston College of Pharmacy conferred degrees to 114 Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) program graduates at the 2025 Commencement May 8 at Cullen Performance Hall.
The ceremony recognized 102 Pharm.D., six Ph.D. and six M.S. program graduates of the 2024-25 academic year. Among those recognized with academic honors for cumulative grade point average (GPA) were 10 who achieved Summa Cum Laude (3.9-4.0 GPA), 19 who achieved Magna Cum Laude (3.7-3.89 GPA), and 21 who achieved Cum Laude (3.5-3.69 GPA).
Among the Summa Cum Laude honorees were three graduating students who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA and served as the college banner bearers for the ceremony. Those students were Abigail Alley, Chuong Pham and Yongqi Xiao.
In addition, among the graduates were 20 members of the Rho Chi Honor Society and 16 members of the Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society.
During the ceremony, the college also recognized five Class of 1975 Golden Cougars on their milestone 50th anniversary of graduating from UHCOP.
This year's Student Response was delivered by Whitney Dike, who had served as Class of 2025 president for all four years of the Pharm.D. program. In her address, Dike thanked her class, her “village,” for their unwavering support.
“There were so many moments where I felt weak, tired, and overwhelmed,” Dike said. “But every time I walked onto campus, and I felt your love, your support, your energy – it kept me going.”
