UHCOP Family Mourns Passing of 1961 Alumnus, Mading Society Member and Community Pharmacist Harold Pieratt

April 26 — The UH College of Pharmacy family expresses its condolences to the family of 1961 alumnus William Harold Pieratt Jr., 82, who served his community as pharmacist/owner of Pieratt's Pharmacy in Giddings, Texas, for nearly four decades and passed on April 22.

pieratt-harold.jpgWith an endowed scholarship for UHCOP students, Pieratt and his wife of 55 years, Doris, were among the earliest members of the college's Mading Society of benefactors. A past member of the UHCOP Dean's Advisory Council, Pieratt was among UHCOP's "50 Outstanding Alumni" recognized as part of the college's 50th anniversary celebrations in 1996-97.

He also served as a past president of the Texas Pharmacy Association and board member of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

He also devoted his time to non-pharmacy activities, such as membership in the Rotary Club of Gidding, attaining Texas Master Gardener designation, and serving as a deacon and lay minister at churches in his native La Grange and Giddings.

He is survived by his wife Doris, two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
