Student Parking Permits

Student parking permits can be secured through the myParking icon in AccessUH. Permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be enrolled in order to be able to get a permit.
Anyone who parks on the University of Houston campus must have a valid parking permit, or utilize paid visitor parking.
To secure a permit, follow these steps:
  1. Log in to your myParking account in AccessUH
  2. Click the “Order Permits” icon
  3. Review the “Rules  and Regulations” then click “I agree with the terms of service”
  4. Click the permit that you wish to purchase (Please note: Only the permits that still have availability and which you are eligible for will be listed)
  5. Follow the remaining steps and check out
Students who purchase a permit online will have the permit charge added to their fee bill. The fee bill is your UH account where all university-related fees (housing, graduation application, online education, etc.) and tuition are posted. The permit charge will appear within 1-2 weeks and will need to be paid by the specified due date to avoid additional charges. Student permits bought during the summer for the upcoming fall will not appear on the fee bill until near the start of the fall semester.
Parking permits are virtual. There is no hangtag or sticker to display.
Student parking permits are semester-based. Fall permits expire Dec. 31. Spring permits also include the summer months. The spring 2026 permits expire Aug. 23.
Students can cancel their permit at any time through their myParking Account in AccessUH. However, a prorated refund will be given only if the permit is canceled by the 12th class day of the semester. Refunds will not be offered if a permit is canceled after the 12th class day.
For most parking permits, if you do not see it among the list of permits from which you can select, it means none are available. Certain permits (Sugar Land, the apartment permits) may not appear because they have eligibility requirements. For these, please reach out to us for further assistance.
Yes. If you are a resident of Bayou Oaks, Cullen Oaks or Cambridge Oaks, you will need a parking permit to park behind the gates. Email a copy of your lease agreement to parking@uh.edu in order to secure this permit.

Students who are taking a majority of their semester hours in face-to-face in-person classes in Sugar Land are eligible for the Sugar Land permit. Please email your class schedule to parking@uh.edu for verification of eligibility.

In addition, most UH parking permits can also be used to park in Sugar Land.

Vehicles are not allowed to remain on campus for more than 72 hours. Residents of University of Houston Student Housing and Residential Life are exempt from this rule. For commuters, the 72-hour parking rule will be enforced at all times. However, a commuter can contact Parking and Transportation Services (parking@uh.edu or 832-842-1097) if they need to leave their vehicle on campus for more than 72 hours during the summer break, winter break, or spring break. This policy is in place to ensure the efficient use of parking resources and to maintain a safe and organized campus environment. Parking and Transportation Services must be able to contact the owner of any vehicle in case it needs to be moved for special events, unforeseen emergencies, cleaning or maintenance.

Some student permits require certain documentation be submitted:

  • Apartment permits for Bayou Oaks, Cambridge Oaks, Cullen Oaks (lease agreement)
  • UH at Sugar Land (semester schedule and not living in an on-campus residential facility)
  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday Elgin Street Garage permits (semester schedule and not living in an on-campus residential facility)
Anyone with a valid University of Houston parking permit may park at no charge in in their zone or parking garage if it is being utilized for paid event parking, unless otherwise stated.
This policy is not valid at lots/garages being used for donor parking.
In order to be admitted in, the permit-holder is required to show the parking attendant their virtual Cougar Card through the UH Go app on their phone. The permit-holder must click the "Tap for QR Code" button to pull up the QR Code with the moving background. Screenshots will not be accepted. The parking attendant will scan the QR Code to confirm if the person has a valid UH parking permit.
