University Career Services hosts a series of workshops throughout the year on a variety of career-related topics. Click below to view this semester’s lineup:

Employer Meet & Greets

During Meet & Greets employers make presentations on topics that include the organization's career opportunities, culture, products or services, and open positions. Students will have an opportunity to speak with the representatives in small groups or individually before or after the presentation. Professional or "business casual" dress is encouraged.

Special Events

University Career Services plans special events throughout the year that are geared towards helping all students prepare for virtual career fairs, graduate school, virtual interviewing, or confidently choosing this major. Virtual events for this semester will include our Graduate School Open House, JCPenney Suit-Up event, #Prepare4TheFair Week, Graduate School Prep Week, Major and Career Exploration Week, and more!

Health and HDFS Internship Conference

RSVP is required in Cougar Pathway to receive the Zoom link. The Zoom link will be sent on the day of the conference. 

University Career Services in collaboration with the UH College of Education is hosting an Internship Conference for undergraduate Health and Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) majors! Employers are seeking to fill opportunities in healthcare, non-profits, education, and more.

The Internship Conference will occur on November 12, 2020 from 12pm-5pm and will provide students an opportunity to connect with employers through Zoom Information Sessions. Please see the schedule below.


12:00 pm-12:45 pm: Pre-Conference Presentation: What is an internship and how do I find one? Presented by Donah Justice

1:00pm-3:00pm: HDFS Information Sessions
Employers will have 20 minutes to present their opportunities to groups in break-out rooms. Students will select which employers they want to meet with. When the session is over, students will return to the main Zoom room and select the next employer session they want to attend.

3:00pm-5:00pm: Health Information Sessions
Employers will have 20 minutes to present their opportunities to groups in break-out rooms. Students will select which employers they want to meet with. When the session is over, students will return to the main Zoom room and select the next employer session they want to attend.

How to be Your Own Advocate: Communicating the Value of an International Education

*This is a workshop that UCS is hosting during International Education Week (IEW)

November 17th from 6 - 7:30 pm

This virtual workshop is for international students who want to better understand how to advocate for themselves when job searching and speaking with potential employers. Topics will include ways to market personal skills, communicating visa status to others, and basics rights as an international worker.

Students will also have the opportunity to hear from the experiences of actual current and former UH students through a series of case studies.

Career Fairs

A Career Fair is an event where recruiters and students can meet to discuss potential internship or career opportunities. During a Career Fair (traditionally) recruiters will greet you at booths and students will explore the event, stopping at booths to introduce themselves to the recruiter and give their resume. At the University of Houston, there are multiple Career Fairs per semester.
