Funded by Wellspring Philanthropic Fund

This project used data from the second National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-being (NSCAW II), the first nationally representative child welfare data set to include information on youth sexual orientation, to determine the  proportion of youth involved in the child welfare system who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, (LGB), and to compare the outcomes of LGB system involved youth to outcomes of system involved non-LGB youth.

The long-term goal of the project was to promote the healthy sexual and identity development for all children and youth in the child welfare system, with an emphasis on youth who are most likely to be impacted by stigma associated with their sexual orientation.
