Alumni, Friends Show Support for Student Scholarships at Annual Golf Classic

June 12 — Marking the 46th year since its inception, the UHCOP Golf Classic benefitting pharmacy students at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy drew more than 50 alumni and friends to the Golf Club of Houston June 6 to raise scholarship funds.

Several individuals and companies also showed their support for students through various levels of sponsorship:

• Gold ($5,000) – Mac Haik Chevrolet
• Silver ($1,000) – Brookshire Brothers and David Wallace (Pharm.D. '98), & Sarah Lake Wallace, (Pharm.D. '00)
• Red & White ($500) – Liz Coyle, Doug Eikenburg, Don Lackey (B.S. '81) and Chi Ngo-Chen (Pharm.D. '02)
• Cougar ($150) – AssureRx Consulting, Steve Fossum, Larry McClaugherty (B.S. '72), and Kimberly Nguyen (Pharm.D. '02)

In addition, several organizations provided in-kind gift donations as door prizes for players, including: GOLFTEC, Dee and C.R. Maher, Perry's Steakhouse & Grille, Pluckers Wing Bar, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Top Golf, and Torchy's Tacos.

Although friendly competition was the name of the game, four teams and three individuals were recognized for their strong showings:

• Low Gross - First Place: Carmine Colavecchia (M.S. '15), Haverick Smalley, Adam Smith and Chris Warren; Second Place: Johnny Hargroue, Nick Hargroue, Chuck Kneip (B.S. '92) and Caleb Garza
• Low Net - First Place: Lance Edens, Daniel Elkowitz, Joe Perello and Marcus Zavala; Second Place: Kaleb Garner, Anthony Henard, Kam Reese and Jeff Rogers
• Longest Drive: Chris Warren Mallory Gessner-Wharton (Pharm.D. '11, M.S. '13)
• Closest to the Pin: Caleb Garza
