K-12 Programs | Higher Education | Special Populations

K-12 PROGRAMS

Executive Ed.D. in K-12 Professional Leadership

Deadlines:

The annual application deadline for the Executive Ed.D. in K-12 Professional Leadership is November 1 (spring semester start) and June 1 (fall semester start).  

Admissions Requirements:

  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework and graduate coursework
  • State of Texas Principal’s Certificate: valid copy that clearly shows all borders and the State seal

M.Ed. Administration and Supervision

Admissions Deadlines:

The annual application deadline for the M.Ed. Administration and Supervision include:

June 1 (fall semester start)

  • Main Campus Cohort (accepting all students)
  • Fort Bend ISD Cohort (FBISD personnel only)

November 1 (spring semester start)

  • Main Campus Cohort (accepting all students)
  • Northwest Campus Cohort (accepting all students willing to attend classes in Cy-Fair)

Admissions Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree: earned from an accredited institution of higher education
  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework
  • State of Texas Educator’s Certificate: valid copy that clearly shows all borders and the State seal
  • Teaching experience: two years at the time of acceptance or upon completion of the program of study; a service record from the employer can show this teaching experience

Principal’s Certification Only Program

Educators who have completed a master’s degree in an education-related field and are applying for the Principal’s Certification Only program may apply to begin in the fall or spring semester.

Admissions Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree: earned from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Master’s degree in an education related field, earned from an accredited institution of higher education
  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework
  • State of Texas Educator’s Certificate: valid copy that clearly shows all borders and the State seal
  • Teaching experience: two years at the time of acceptance or upon completion of the program of study; a service record from the employer can show this teaching experience

HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Deadlines:

The annual application deadlines for the UH Main Campus Ph.D. in Higher Education and Policy Studies is on January 5 and the M.Ed. in Higher Education is on January 5 (fall semester start).

  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework and graduate coursework

SPECIAL POPULATIONS PROGRAMS

Deadlines:

Please visit the Admissions Deadlines page for specific dates. There are spring and fall admissions for the Ed.D. Professional Leadership – Special Populations and M.Ed. Special Populations programs. The Educational Diagnostician Certification program admits students for fall, spring, and summer.

Ed.D. Professional Leadership – Special Populations

Admissions Requirements:

  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework and graduate coursework

M.Ed. Special Populations

Admissions Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree: earned from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework 
  • Statement of intent
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • State of Texas Educator’s Certificate: valid copy that clearly shows all borders and the State seal (for Educational Diagnostician concentration only)

Educational Diagnostician Certification

Admissions Requirements:

  • Master’s degree: earned  from an accredited institution of higher education
  • GPA: preferred minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in upper division undergraduate coursework and graduate coursework
  • State of Texas Educator’s Certificate: valid copy that clearly shows all borders and the State seal 
  • Service record with signature from HR representative: demonstrating two years of teaching experience either at the time of acceptance or evidence that the applicant will have two years of service by program completion
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Statement of intent
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae
