Degree Applicability and Restrictions A maximum of 3 credit hours may be used towards COSC advanced elective requirement.

If a student uses 3396/4396 or 3399/4399 towards the COSC advance elective requirement, then no 4398 credits may be used.

Deliverable(s) Final written report by end of semester, in addition to any requirements required by the instructor. Final written report and oral presentation during the semester in which COSC 4396 takes place, in addition to any requirements required by the instructor. Honors Thesis and defense there of by the published deadlines during the semester in which COSC 4399 takes place. And, any other requirements set forth by NSM Academic Affairs and The Honors College.
Enrollment Request Deadline Preferably: no later than 10 business days before the first day of class. Preferably: no later than 10 business days before the first day of class. Mandatory: no later than the last day of the fall or spring semester immediately prior to the semester the thesis project begins.
Enrollment Process

Step 1: you must first seek out a faculty research mentor. Visit "how to get started" for advice on contacting faculty and learning about project and research opportunities.

Step 2: once you have identified a project and faculty who has agreed to mentor you, ask your faculty research mentor to email a 4X98 syllabus to you and Matthew Pariyothorn. The syllabus must detail the project, expectations, how the student will be graded, assignments, attendance requirements, etc.

Step 3: submit a General Petition requesting to enroll COSC 4X98 and how you want the course to apply in your degree. Email the petition to kalexander3@uh.edu

Step 4: if approved, you will receive an email with enrollment instructions.

Step 3: ask your faculty research mentor to email a 3399/4399 syllabus to you and Matthew Pariyothorn. The syllabus must detail the project, expectations, how the student will be graded, assignments, attendance requirements, etc.

Step 4: after you receive the final/approved VOE from the Honors College, submit a General Petition requesting to enroll in COSC 3399 or 4399 and how you want the course to apply in your degree. Be sure to include a copy of the approved VOE with your petition. Email the petition to kalexander3@uh.edu

Step 5: if approved, you will receive an email with enrollment instructions.
