Fofanov Awarded for Outstanding Platform Presentation

FofanovThe 2011 Chemical and Biological Defense Science and Technology Conference awarded Yuriy Fofanov, director of the UH Center for Biomedical and Environmental Genomics and associate professor of computer science, biology and biochemistry, and engineering technology, the Outstanding Platform Presentation Award.

In this talk, Fofanov discussed results of the research supported by the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate and the Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency. His presentation, “Bioinformatics Challenges in Using Next Generation Sequencing for Pathogen Detection,” was selected from more than 160 presenters.

The meeting draws top researchers from academia, government labs and industry focusing on the field of chemical and biological defense.
