UH Computational Physiology Lab (CPL) Awarded NSF Grant on Improving Human Engagement and Enjoyment in Routine Activities

The University of Houston Computational Physiology Lab (CPL) was awarded a new NSF grant entitled "Improving Human Engagement and Enjoyment in Routine Activities" (PI: I. Pavlidis).

The program's premise goes against the popular belief that performing many tasks at once harbors danger. Quite the opposite in some cases, multiplexing an interesting task in a background-monitoring task can directly improve engagement and indirectly performance. This research may revolutionize practice in many critical professions (e.g., security guards) characterized by boredom.
