Welcome to Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine
We are one mission with many voices. I am thrilled to be a part of the Fertitta College of Medicine in our journey to develop a community-centered medical school for Houston and Texas. We are committed to educating competent, compassionate physicians, who are ready to confront the current health care challenges and are prepared to take on whatever tomorrow brings.
We are achieving this by addressing health inequities in underserved communities and the shortage of primary care physicians. A diverse and engaged workforce is essential to creating real health equity in our communities because it brings with it a diversity of ideas, experiences, representation, and solutions.
Our curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to place the biomedical and clinical sciences as cornerstones of our program upon which we build structures that ensure our students will understand their patients’ needs, their cultures, their families and communities to provide them with the best care and advocacy as possible.
In the Admissions and Outreach Office, we want to reach as many young scholars as possible from our local communities. We want to show them pathways and opportunities to become doctors, and hopefully some of them will utilize these pathways to attend the College of Medicine.

Michelle A. Carroll Turpin, Ph.D.
