Sugar Land Shuttle FAQs

  1. Who is eligible to ride the shuttle?
UH students taking classes at both the main campus and Sugar Land instructional site may use the Shuttle Service. There is no cost to ride the shuttle. Your semester schedule will be validated for eligibility to use this service.

Access to the shuttle will be considered in the following order:
    1. Student group 1 – Enrolled in at least one face-to-face or hybrid course at both the UH main campus and Sugar Land instructional site.
    2. Faculty, staff and teaching assistants – must have essential job responsibilities on both the UH main campus and Sugar Land instructional site.
    3. Student group 2 – enrolled in at least one face-to-face or hybrid course at the UH main campus and at least one of the following Wharton County Junior College courses at the Sugar Land campus
      • IMED 1301
      • ITSE 1301
      • ARTC 1302
      • ARTC 1305

  2. How often does the shuttle arrive/depart at my location?
The shuttle operates as a “circulator” as opposed to running on a fixed schedule to achieve the maximum number of touches at each campus. The bus operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. The bus will wait for five minutes at each stop before departing to its next destination.

  3. I'm not taking any classes in Sugar Land, but I live in Sugar Land and take classes at UH main campus. I am happy to pay to ride the shuttle. Is there an option where I can pay?
Unfortunately, there is no option to pay to ride the shuttle. You must meet the requirement of being a UH student taking UH classes in Sugar Land and the main campus to be eligible for the shuttle service.

  4. If I can't ride the shuttle, what other transportation options are there for me to get to UH main campus?
There are several ways to get to campus through public transportation. Please visit the Parking & Transportation website for more information. The TREK Fort Bend Express also picks up on our campus, and goes to three different Houston-area locations: Galleria/Uptown/Yorktown, the Texas Medical Center, and Greenway Plaza. From many of these locations you can connect to a METRO bus or lightrail for transportation to UH main campus.

  5. Does the shuttle run on weekends, on school holidays or between semesters?
No. The shuttle follows the University's academic calendar and therefore will only run Monday-Friday during the regular semesters, excluding holidays.

  6. What happens if I miss the last shuttle back to campus?
If you miss the last scheduled shuttle pick up because it left early or did not arrive at all, contact the UH security officer in Brazos Hall or the Albert & Mamie George Building, or call 832-842-2929. The security officer will arrange for no-charge transportation to the Student Center on the main campus. If you wish to be dropped off at a location other than the Student Center, you will assume the transportation charge. If you miss the last shuttle because of your own tardiness, you will have to arrange for your own transportation back to the main campus.
