Contracts
The Office of Risk Management reviews contracts that the University enters into, specifically to review the insurance requirements contained within. If the University is required to provide insurance to an outside party, Risk Management must review the contract to ensure compliance, as well as supply any insurance forms necessary.
Standard Purchasing Agreement (SPA)
The SPA contains language that requires vendors to have certain insurance coverages and limits. If the vendor requests for the University to waive any of those coverages, Risk Management must be notified. Submit a copy of the contract, the vendor's certificate if applicable, along with the completed Waiver or Deviation of Insurance form. Risk Management will review, and will respond within 2-3 business days.
If there is no request for a waiver or deviation from the insurance requirements in the contract, there is no need to send it to Risk Management for review.
Non-Standard Contracts
Many non-standard contracts include insurance requirements the third party is requesting from the University. There are certain coverages and limits that the University cannot provide. Any non-standard contracts, including affiliation agreements, should be sent to Risk Management for review.
Contract Review
To have Risk Management review a contract, send the following to Risk Management:
- A copy of the contract
- The Contract Coversheet
- Certificate of insurance from the third party if necessary
- Any additional information that could assist in determining if a waiver is warranted
Contracts will be reviewed in the order that they are received. Please allow at minimum 2-3 business days for a response. If there is an urgent matter, please indicate so in your email subject line so that Risk Management is aware of any time constraints.
