If the psychiatric nurse is unable to take your call, please leave the following contact information and we will return your call as soon as possible:
- Name with correct spelling (please speak clearly)
- Cougar ID number
- Date of Birth

- Brief Message
If you have a medication concern outside clinic hours or during holidays, please call the Memorial Hermann Nurse Health Line at 713-338-7979. This service is free and available 24/7.
For virtual telepsychiatry services, students must be located in the state of Texas at the time of their appointment. If you are outside Texas, please contact the Psychiatry Clinic for additional information.
Our Board-Certified psychiatric physicians provide initial evaluations and consultations, medication management, and appropriate referrals when indicated. Conditions treated at the Psychiatry Clinic include:
- Mood disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder
- Anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, performance anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)1
- Various substance use disorders
- Adjustment disorders
Students considering medication for ADHD must provide documentation from a comprehensive, recent (within the last 5 years) psychological testing report for ADHD prior to scheduling an appointment. If requested, the Psychiatry Clinic can provide a list of community resources for comprehensive testing as well as a summary of our ADHD testing requirements.
Please note, testing results for ADHD do not guarantee the prescription of stimulant medications. Summary self-reports and many online ADHD testing options are insufficient.
Please schedule your appointment as early as possible as the clinic can become very busy during the semester.
If you arrive or connect after your scheduled check-in time, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment and may be charged a No-show or Late Cancellation Fee per UH Student Health Center Policy.
Initial evaluations and consultations are scheduled for 90 minutes, and follow-up visits are typically scheduled for 30 minutes.
