COVID-19 Testing
Students
The Student Health Center provides COVID-19 symptomatic testing by appointment only for University of Houston students who are sick or may be experiencing symptoms of the virus. Students who need a COVID test due to illness or symptoms should make a telemedicine appointment with a medical provider through the Healthy Coog Patient Portal or by calling 713-743-5151. If the medical provider feels COVID testing is appropriate, they will order testing through our in-house laboratory.
All tests performed on-site at Student Health Center are rapid tests (antigen).
The cost of COVID-19 testing at the Student Health Center depends on if the student is enrolled in the UH System-endorsed Student Health Insurance Plan or self-pay.
- The UH System-endorsed Student Health Insurance Plan will cover the cost of the COVID-19 test if the test is ordered by a Student Health Center provider.
- The self-pay cost for testing will be posted to a student's university financial account through Student Business Services.
- Third-party insurance is not accepted for in-house testing.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and Staff should contact the UH Health Family Care Center, their Primary Care Physician, or a community testing location for testing.
Community Testing Resources
All other testing needs should be completed through either an at-home test (available from most pharmacies) or through a community testing resource.
Some testing sites require insurance or offer services at a self-pay rate. Contact the testing sites for information about cost, types of available testing, and testing locations.
