Parking Information for New Students
If you will be parking your vehicle on campus, you will need to have a valid UH parking permit, unless you use one of the paid visitor parking locations.
Permit selections are done online:
- Log in to AccessUH using your CougarNet credentials, then click on the myParking Account icon.
- Click "Purchase Parking Permit"
- Read the "Important Info" page and then click "Next"
- Read about toll tags and how they can be used with garage permits, then click "Next"
- Select the desired permit
- Check the two agreement boxes and click "Next"
- Add vehicle information. Students can choose up to three vehicles to be active on their permit.
- Finish checking out.
Please note: You must first be enrolled in classes before being able to register for a parking permit.
The prices for parking permits are posted here on the Parking and Transportation Services website. Please note: These prices reflect the full cost if purchased at the start of the semester. Permits purchased during the semester will be prorated.
Students who purchase a permit online will have the permit charge added to their fee bill. The fee bill is your UH account where all university-related fees (housing, graduation application, online education, etc.) and tuition are posted. The permit charge will appear within 1-2 weeks and will need to be paid by the specified due date to avoid additional charges. Student permits bought during the summer for the upcoming fall will not appear on the fee bill until near the start of the fall semester.
We offer a number of different permit types for students, including zones and garages. If you have a zone permit, you must park in your assigned zone. Garage permits allow you to park in the specific garage you choose. Not all zones may have permits available for purchase. Here are the links for maps of the zones and the garages.
Anyone with a valid UH parking permit is allowed to park in any ungated zone lot on campus Monday-Thursday after 3 p.m., and anytime Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Just make sure you do not park in a restricted space, such as reserved, disabled, metered and 20-minute unloading. Please note: If you have an evening-weekend parking permit, you cannot use it to park on campus until 3 p.m. Monday-Friday (and all day on the weekend). The Tues-Thur and M-W-F garage permits must park in their assigned garage at all times.
