Long a source of information for computer users and mobile device carriers, the Internet now extends its presence into an ever increasing variety of every day physical devices. From watches and thermostats to smart cars and kitchen appliances, there appears to be no object in the physical world which won't soon be visible and actionable via the Internet and its associated web technologies. This talk will focus on a recent attempt to commercialize this "Internet of Things" from an industrial setting, walking through a demonstration of an IoT stack from sensor to cloud and from concept to reality.

Bio:

Mr. Jeremy Jones is currently the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Comfort Systems USA Inc. (NYSE: FIX). Comfort Systems is the nation's largest mechanical services provider with annual revenues exceeding $1.6 billion. He was formerly Vice President of Investment Bank Technology with JPMorgan investment bank. Mr. Jones is a veteran of enterprise-level problem solving working with the top echelons of fortune 500 firms to resolve major IT issues around cybersecurity, incorporating emerging technologies, and others.  He is an expert in the industrial applications of the Internet of Things. He holds an MSc in Technology Commercialization from the McCombs School of Business of the University of Texas at Austin as well as an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston.
