Maggie Mahoney

Maggie provides leadership, direction, and supervision for the Learning Abroad office and Passport for Coogs functional area. She develops office strategic goals and strategic planning, and she oversees faculty-led program development, university and provider partnerships, risk management, assessment, reporting, and budgeting. 

Maggie also currently serves as a student advisor for NSM, Technology, Engineering, Business, HRM, Architecture, Graduate College of Social Work, Medical & Professional Schools, Hobby School, REEP/Exchange Programs, Faculty-Led programs, and student service learning groups.

Maggie joined the Learning Abroad team in 2015 after working in Residence Life, Intercultural Education, and Career Development. She is persuing a Doctorate of Educaiton in Ethical Leadership from the University of St. Thomas, and she holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Spanish from Centenary College of Louisiana. Maggie has studied abroad in France, Belgium, and Guatemala as a student. She speaks French and has working proficiency in Spanish. In addition, she has traveled in Western Europe, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Costa Rica, and Peru. 


Madison Rendall

Graduate Advisor for College of Education, College of the Arts, College of Nursing, and The Honor’s College students.

Madison joined Learning Abroad in December 2020. Madison has a Master’s in Art History and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in art education. She has travelled to Mexico, the United and British Virgin Islands, Italy, and Spain. In June of 2018, Madison participated in a UH faculty-led Learning Abroad program to Mexico City. She is a Houston native and is a huge fan of all University of Houston sports, especially the UH men’s Cougar basketball team.


Ebony McKeever

Graduate Advisor for College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

Ebony joined the Learning Abroad team in December 2020. Originally from San Francisco, California, Ebony moved to Houston in 2017 to be a middle school teacher through Teach for America. While teaching, she developed a passion for working to alleviate external factors and anxieties that prevent students from excelling in school. She is currently earning her Master’s in Social Work, where she is able to strengthen her skills of building relationships, advising and advocating for individuals, and encouraging life changing opportunities. While earning her Bachelor’s of Arts in psychology and sociology at Georgetown University, she participated in a learning abroad program in South Africa, and her favorite vacation spot is Cancun, Mexico. Ebony enjoys traveling, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.


Marisol Gonzalez

Marisol joined Learning Abroad in September 2015. Marisol was born in Mexico, but was raised in Houston, TX and is fluent in Spanish. Before joining the Learning Abroad team, Marisol worked for the Houston Independent School District for twenty years, where she held a variety of positions leading her to her last position as the school administrative assistant. Marisol has spent many summers in Mexico and has also traveled to Canada. Marisol plans to continue her education in Business Management and Accounting.


Amanda Clinton

Amanda joined the Learning Abroad team in November 2019. After working 7 years in healthcare IT she has returned to a higher education work environment. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas A&M University. Being born in South Korea and having an Australian parent, Amanda has had many opportunities to travel the globe from a young age. She has been to Australia, Fiji, Canada, Mexico, Italy, England, Indonesia, and has most recently traveled back to South Korea for the first time since leaving as a baby. Amanda enjoys writing, producing and recording electronic music in her free time and also loves cooking, cinema and reading.
