Nora Henschen

VIOLIN

Nora Henschen began her violin studies at the age of five, and started receiving training in the Suzuki method that same year. Her first teacher was Lucia Woodruff, and she has since studied with Dr. Laurie Scott, Dr. Neela Kinariwala, and Dr. Eri Lam. In 2007, Henschen won first place in the Starlight Symphony Youth Concerto Competition. In 2008, she was a finalist in the Pearl Amster Concerto Competition, as well as winning second place in the Asian American Community Partnership Challenge Cup. In the next year, Henschen was chosen as a member of the 2009 Texas Music Educators Association All-State Symphony Orchestra. Henschen has participated in many music programs and festivals, including Sound Encounters, where she studied with Brian Lewis, the Austin Chamber Music Festival, the National Music Festival (USA), the Cambridge International String Academy (England) and the ARIA International Music Academy (USA). In 2011, she began her studies with Dr. Kirsten Yon at the Moores School of Music (University of Houston). Henschen is also a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and has completed Suzuki book trainings up through book four, with Pat D’ Ercole, Dr. Laurie Scott and Dr. Susan Baer. She has attended numerous Suzuki institutes around the country, such as the Armadillo Suzuki Institute, the Texas State Suzuki Institute, the Sante Fe Suzuki Institute, Sound Encounters and the Greater Austin Suzuki Institute. Henschen has taught at several music studios and public schools in the Houston area since 2014, as well as maintaining a private Suzuki studio in Houston, Texas.
