Felipe Tristán (MM ’09)

“Studying at the Moores School of Music was one of the best experiences of my life. UH brought students from different music worlds together – orchestra, band, opera, and music education – and it was a rush to be surrounded by such exceptional, friendly, driven people every day. As well, the remarkable faculty helped create a warm, welcoming community that supported the students, made us feel at home, and inspired us to live up to our artistic potential. It was also my first experience living and working in the United States, and I fell in love with this energetic country and the warm Houston community. My UH experience helped me launch my life in classical music and in the US, which led to fellowships, performing opportunities, teaching work in New York – and now, my conducting career in the US and abroad. I’m grateful and proud to be a Moores School of Music alumnus!”—Felipe Tristán (MM ’09)
