Hector Vásquez

Instructional Assistant Professor of Voice

Hector Vásquez (Voice) has sung leading roles at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Cleveland, Orlando, and Houston Grand Opera, in addition to his appearances as baritone soloist with Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Houston Philharmonic/Symphony Orchestras, among others. He has been featured at Music Festivals of Berlin, Ojai, Aspen, Carmel, Santa Fe Chamber, and the Hollywood Bowl Summer Season. His teaching experiences include his appointments as Adjunct Voice Professor at the University of Southern California and California State University, Los Angeles, as well as having served as an Opera America clinician. Mr. Vasquez is a member of the voice faculty of the Houston Grand Opera High School Voice Studio. During 2006-2008, Mr. Vasquez was Program Director of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. He has judged many national and international competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Video recordings of his performances are on Kultur Video, and audio recordings have been released on Sony Classical, Erato, and Albany records. His broadcast appearances include Live from the MET, Live from Lincoln Center and NPR radio performances.
