EH21: Radioactive Material Safety

Course Description: Instructor-led training.  The course covers basic radiation physics principles, lab safety procedures, emergency spill procedures, radiation terminology, isotope information, documentation and record keeping, dosimetry, radioactive waste disposal, survey meter usage, basic radiation biology, orientation to University safety policies and the Texas Department of State Health Services radiation regulations.

Who Should Take It: Required for all Principal Investigators and Authorized Users prior to work with Radioactive Materials at University of Houston.

Prerequisites: EH06

Estimated Course Duration: 3 hours

Frequency: One time Only.

Please Note: EH21W (Refresher Training) is required annually thereafter for radioactive materials users.
