Dear Coog,
We recognize this is not the spring semester you were anticipating. None of us were.
During this unprecedented time of developing new skills like online learning, practicing social distancing, and addressing serious financial challenges, you may also be struggling to stay active, healthy, engaged, and motivated. We can help you with that.
In fact, there are a number of resources and recommendations we’d like to share:
ASK FOR HELP
- The DSAES website will direct you to the most current information about all our student services
- The CoogsCARE website will continue to be a resource for emergency aid resources at UH and in the city of Houston
- Struggling emotionally? Counseling and Psychological Services is operating remotely. And Cougars in Recovery continues to provide support for those dealing with substance abuse issues
ACE AN ONLINE CLASS
- Create a productive workspace
- Eliminate distractions and manage your time
- Improve your off-campus internet connection
- Reach out to your professor if you need help
- Contact the Justin Dart, Jr. Student Accessibility Center if you need academic accommodations
CREATE STRUCTURE AND ROUTINE
- Establish a daily and weekly routine for yourself, as close to your pre-COVID-19 schedule as possible
- Keep up on personal hygiene and get dressed as you normally would
- Add something rewarding to your regular schedule. For example, UH Wellness is hosting virtual Tuesday Tea Conversations
ENGAGE IN HEALTHY HABITS
- Eat well: Nutritional Consultations available through Campus Recreation. Refer to Cougar Cupboard for locations to obtain food and other resources
- Keep moving! Make time for movement (walk outside, check out free live fitness classes or video workouts). Remember that Campus Recreation is providing remote workouts and other forms of digital recreation
- Learn a new skill: Check out these Outdoor Adventure demos
- Feeling unwell? The Student Health Center is working remotely
