The India Studies Program at the University of Houston invites you to attend a lecture given by Dr. Anuradha Needham, the Donald R. Longman Professor of English and Cinema Studies at Oberlin College. The lecture will cover conformity and defiance in representations of female agency in Sahib Bibi aur Gulam (Master, Wife, and Slave), produced by Guru Dutt, and directed by Abrar Alvi in 1962.
The lecture is free and open to the public, with a reception following the talk.
