Dr. Lea Helmueller, assistant professor of journalism, has been awarded a scientific exchange grant for a research project on media and terrorism at the University of Zurich in Switzerland.

Hellmueller has been at the University of Houston since 2016 and previously served as a guest professor at the University of Zurich. She co-authored the project “Voicing Terrorism: Explaining News Media Attention to and Framing of Terrorists Across Cultures," which analyzes mediated visibility of terrorists in different political contexts using news coverage from over 30 countries.
