D. Samuels & Associates (DSA) and African American Studies have come together to offer internships to AAS minors seeking practical learning experiences in entrepreneurship, economic development and workforce development programming. DSA builds, lives, careers, and projects one person at a time with talent, technology, and tenacity through the provision of construction, construction management and resource development services. 

DSA is seeking AAS interns to assist in developing, implementing and evaluating a hands-on business/economic development program encouraging African American business owners and entrepreneurs to re-examine their mindsets, learn new-team-building skills to build partnerships & alliances necessary for the procurement of viable business opportunities as a collective.

Position Title

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT INTERN

The Program Management Intern position is a participant-facing marketing role for DSA Resource Development Programming initiatives.    Individuals will learn the DSA story, business processes, and value proposition to assist DSA in developing and marketing DSA Resource Development Programming for local businesses and entrepreneurs.  This role will require weekly reviews to determine effectiveness.

  • Winning business procurement strategies

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exhibit strong business acumen and the ability to work effectively with others.​
  • Possess excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills, excel in managing social media accounts.
  • Energetic, confident, outgoing, and knowledgeable of leadership principles.
  • Ability to effectively identify valid program participant leads, cultivate and develop relationships, and follow through to the point of contact.
  • ​Customer service oriented; closing skills, prospecting, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Salesforce.com software preferred.
  • Fifteen to 20 hours per week.
  • Evening and weekend hours as needed to meet participants at their convenience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required, some college experience preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts cold calling, warm calling of leads and referrals, develops relationships with staff and program participants.
  • Assists in developing marketing promotion and sales materials.
  • Communicates with management by submitting weekly activity and results reports, along with status review meetings.
  • Provide program feedback
  • Maintains records on area and customer sales and provide historical reports.
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary

$8/hr./ to $10/hr.Other duties as assigned
