Integration Request

Canvas Third-Party Tool Integration Request Guidelines

Some third-party vendors offer integrations with Canvas that allow users to connect to a cloud service from within a Canvas course. The following will guide you in requesting an integration.

  • Only faculty requests are accepted.
    • Vendors cannot request an integration.
  • Must be for more than one class/instructor.
    • Exceptions are made for very large classes.
  • Because a vendor is listed in the Canvas app list, does not make it automatically approved.
  • Vendors must be TXRAMP Certified (Required by Texas State Law).

The following items will be part of the review process and may be required for the request form.

  • Business owner
  • Purpose/Benefit
  • Security
    • Are names and grades stored?
  • Dates of service
  • Documentation and web links
    • Terms of Use
    • Privacy Policy
    • Content Integration Agreement

UH IT Security approval of all integrations is required.

The process can take up to 2 weeks.

Security and Contract Review

  • Security review is performed by UHIT Information Security
  • Contract review is performed by Office of the General Counsel

Install on Canavas production (if approved)
