QSS 2300: Statistical Concepts and Analysis
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: MATH 1310 or equivalent. Introduction to descriptive statistics, probability and sampling theory, and inferential statistics. Emphasis on applying quantitative techniques to practical problems in public policy, political behavior, and social psychology.

QSS 3301: Regression Analysis
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: QSS 2300 or equivalent. The general linear model and its extensions. Specification and estimation of least squares regression models. Statistical inference and hypothesis testing. Violations of model assumptions and alternative estimators.

QSS 3302: Research Design
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisite: QSS 2300 or equivalent, or consent of instructor. Designing, executing, and evaluating a research project. Data collection techniques in the social sciences, including experiments, surveys, archives and census data, and field research. Identifying and framing research questions. Research ethics.

QSS 3303: Research Quality Assurance
Cr. (3. (3-0). Prerequisite: QSS 3302 or equivalent. Assessment, measurement, and interpretation of data. Methods for assuring datasets and databases are accurate, accessible, consistent, reliable, secure, and timely.

QSS 4393: Quantitative Social Science Research Project
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: QSS 2300, 3301, and 3302 or equivalent, senior standing, and consent of director. Directed research project requiring original data collection and data analysis. May be repeated for credit.

QSS 4397: Selected Topics in Quantitative Social Science
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: QSS 2300 or equivalent, junior or senior standing, and consent of instructor. Selected topics in Quantitative Social Sciences. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.

QSS 4398: Independent Study in Quantitative Social Science
Cr. 3. (3-0). Prerequisites: QSS 2300 or equivalent, junior or senior standing, and consent of instructor. Special problems requiring individualized instruction. May be repeated for credit.
