Eligibility Criteria

• Scholarship applicant must be currently enrolled and in good standing in the undergraduate Health degree program in the Department of Psychological, Health, and Learning Sciences and specifically be registered as a major or minor in the Health Program area, as well as exhibiting an interest in physical education, coaching, or sports medicine.  
• Scholarship applicant should be a rising junior or rising senior.  
• Scholarship applicant should exhibit leadership skills by participation in student health organizations, the Texas Association for Health, physical education, recreation & dance (TAHPERD), student teaching, internships, or other activities that are related to a commitment to leadership in this area is strongly encouraged.  
• Scholarship applicant must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in accordance with the standards set by the College of Education Scholarship Committee  
• Scholarship applicant may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with the Dr. Joel A. Bloom Scholarship.  
• Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books fees, and/or supplies for coming academic semester. Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.  

Scholarship is non-renewable. Scholarship applicant must apply each year.

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.
