Tips for Managing Uncertainty

The College of Education will host a free virtual event on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to highlight faculty research to help us face these uncertain and challenging times. The Zoom link will be provided upon RSVP. Hosted in partnership with the University of Houston Alumni Association.
- Blake A. Allan, an associate professor and director of the counseling psychology doctoral program, will present on “Working during COVID-19: Inequity, Uncertainty and Loss.”
- Ruth M. LÃ³pez, an assistant professor of school leadership, will present on “Supporting K-12 and College Latinx Students Through a Public Crisis.”
- April Peters-Hawkins, an associate professor and associate chair of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, will present on “Brave Conversations: Talking to Children About Race.”
- Diana Castillo, a two-time UH alumna and the principal of Houston ISD’s Pilgrim Academy, will share lessons learned from leading her team to support students amid the pandemic.
After the discussion, stay online for a free mindfulness session led by Bradley Smith, a professor of school psychology, and a student lab member.
