Instructional Assistant, Cougar Cupboard
Tbrown30@cougarnet.uh.edu

My name is Tasia Brown, born and raised in South Carolina. I attended the University of South Carolina, where I earned a Bachelor of Social Work with leadership distinction in Professional and Civic Engagement. Upon graduating, I commissioned into the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant for the National Guard. I traveled to Houston, TX after receiving acceptance into UH Graduate School of Social Work dual degree MSW/Ph.D. Program.

During my undergrad career, I was a part of many student organizations and gained hundreds of volunteer service hours. I am very passionate about being active in the community and interacting with others to make a space feel like home despite hardships. It is rewarding to see the impact from building relationships in times of service and learning about different beliefs and values. In my free time, I enjoy binge-watching anime, reading, or doing arts & crafts.

“I am excited to make the Center for Student Advocacy and Community my new home away from home. As an Instructional Assistant for Cougar Cupboard, my goal is to help those who are in need to the best of my ability. Maya Angelou once said, ‘Good done anywhere is good done everywhere.’ I value the work that is being done to help students, staff, and even the community around UH Campus to fight food insecurity and promote a sense of belonging.”
