D.E.C.K. Program Featured on ABC 13

The Deluxe Entertainment Camp for Kids (D.E.C.K.) is underway and the campers paid a visit to the UH campus on June 15.

60 students from Houston's 5th Ward are participating in this 3-week camp designed to help kids gain a better understanding of their artistic abilities.

During their UH visit, students had a chance to take a tour of the Blaffer Art Museum and Wortham Theatre, and dance on stage. ABC 13 was there to catch the activities.

D.E.C.K. introduces acting, puppetry, storytelling, and dance to the third-through-fifth graders under the guidance of UH teaching artists, including some faculty and graduate students. A $260,000 multi-year grant from Houston Endowment made the camp possible.
