The Bi-Weekly Employer List consists of employers who have set up a campus recruitment visit during the two week period shown above for the purpose of interviewing UH job candidates for positions in their respective companies.
Updates to this Bi-Weekly Employer List will be released as additional employers establish recruiting dates. Watch for these updates on the Update Board outside Room 156 and through handouts at the front desk. Companies that are pre-selecting will be notated by a "Pre-Selection: ____%" designation. Employers using 100% pre-selection have the option to select all of the candidates they wish to interview. "Pre-Selection: 50%" indicates an employer will select half of the candidates they will interview; the other half of the schedule(s) will be filled through the open scheduling process. Companies pre-selecting will review the ResumeBank documents (resume, College Interview Form, and unoffical transcript) for each candidate in advance of their campus recruitment visits. Candidates who are pre-selected will be guaranteed an interview opportunity with the respective employers. Note that some employers will choose not to use the pre-selection service which is indicated by "Pre-Selection: None." Employers not pre-selecting will have complete open interview schedules. Open interview scheduling begins one week prior to the date of the interview and continues until 4:00 p.m., two days prior to the date of the interview.
If you are unfamilar with the Pre-Selection service, please read the blue Pre-Selection information sheet first. There is a copy of this information sheet in the "Campus Recruitment Survivial Kit." A copy is also available at the front desk.
For employers recruiting for the fifth recruitment period, 11/18/96 through 11/27/96, you may submit for Pre-Selection beginning Wednesday, 10/16/96; the deadline for submitting is 4:00pm, Monday, 10/21/96. This will allow enough time for us to forward your documents to employers and for employers to notify us whom they have pre-selected. The names of pre-selected candidates will be posted beginning on Tuesday, 11/05/96.
The following employers appeared on previous Bi-Weekly Employer Lists or on Bi-Weekly updates and additions. There may still be time to submit an interview request for these employers via Open Scheduling. Please check the Bi-Weekly Lists in which these employers first appeared; also check the Recruitment Scheduling Board for available interview times. If you are interested in a particular employer, and if there are time slots available, you may submit your interview request forms no later than 4:00pm two business days prior to the date of the interview. Should the recruitment schedule be full, submit your interview request and you will be placed on the overflow list. Students on the overflow list will be contacted if there is an interview cancellation or if the employer opens up additional schedules; also, resumes of those on the overflow list will be given to the employer on the date of their recruitment visit.

P-Pre-Selection Open scheduling opportunities may become available with those employers who pre-select "100%". This occurs when employers pre-select less than the number of candidates required to fill their interview schedules. Check the "Recruitment Schedules" and "Schedule Updates" bulletin boards for possible interview opportunities with these employers. Available interview slots with employers who have pre-selected "100%" will be filled through regular open scheduling procedures.
T-Transcript Transcript information has been requested by the employer. NOTE: If you want the employer to receive your transcript information prior to the interview, complete the Transpro program on the CPPC Network computers. Otherwise, you may hand carry a copy of your unofficial transcript to the interview or mail a copy to the employer. Transpro is the recommended option.

Except for the School District Employer List, this is the final Bi-Weekly Employer List for the Fall 1996 semester. Watch the Update Board, outside room 156, for late-scheduling companies that will recruit on campus but will not appear on this list.
Is there life after campus recruitment? Yes! Only about 25 percent of college graduates nationwide get job offers prior to graduation. If you are among the many who are still in the hunt after campus recruitment activity slows down for this semester, be sure to keep the momentum going by using the following sources:
1. ResumeBank. Register or re-register with this service. Next renewal deadline is
February 3, 1997. You may re-register as early as January 2. See the ResumeBank flyer for further information. Counselors (as well as authorized
faculty and staff) use ResumeBank when conducting resume referrals to meet
employers' presonnel needs.
2. JoBank VoiceLink. These are mostly immediate openings, so this becomes a
valuable source as graduation approaches.
3. Hard-copy job listings in the file boxes shelved in the Career Resource Center
(Room 108).
4. The Internet (ask for assistance if you haven't used this excellent resource)
5. Networking. Your networks will now become even more important. Be sure to utilize (and extend) them.
6. Job listing bulletins at the front desk (received weekly and bi-weekly). A
complete list of the bulletins can be found in the Books on Reserve list.

7. TOBJOBS. Check out this job listing database on the NetWORK terminals. More than 50,000 new jobs are received every month.
8. Pre-Selection for Spring semester, 1997. If you are graduating in May or
summer, 1997, pick up a Pre-Selection flyer available November 11.
9. Job Hotlines. Check out the current Job Hotlines booklet at the front desk.
10. All services of the Career Planning and Placement Center are free to UH
graduates for one semester after graduation. Following the "free" semester,
campus recruitment, JoBank VoiceLink, and other services are available on a
fee basis. Inquire at the front desk.
Please let your career counselor or the front desk (713/743-5100) know when you receive a job offer. The Career Planning and Placement Center maintains information on job offers and salary offers. This information is useful to future UH job candidates and it is used in the National Assocation of Colleges and Employers Salary Survey. All information is handled confidentially. The ResumeBank Input program is now installed in the College of Engineering. This means that engineering students may complete, check, and/or update their Resumebank data file from their college. The program is located on designated terminals in the computer lab.
CPPC has recently compiled salary statistics comparing salary offers made to UH graduates with national salary figures. University of Houston graduates received higher salary offers in 15 of 23 categories compared with national salary data. Those 15 categories are as follows:

The number of job offers to UH graduates generated through campus recruiting was 370, an 18.97 percent increase over the previous year. This does not include job offers generated through resume referral, VoiceLink, hard-copy job postings, or the internet. This upward trend seems to be continuing into the current year.
Remember to re-register with ResumeBank between January 2 and February 3, 1997. When re-registering, there is no need to re-enter the information in the datafile. Just open your ResumeBank file and click on "I want to re-register..." from the option page. If you let the deadline lapse, however, it will be necessary to re-enter all data and submit another resume.
