Organization Management

As the founder of the Houston Institute for Culture, Mark Lacy manages a successful non-profit organization, utilizing the World Wide Web and good relations with local media.

In 1995 he established the organization to support his weekly radio program on KTRU, Rice University Radio. The Houston Institute went on line as a "virtual organization" in 1998 to better serve the community.

The organization's address, cultural-crossroads.com, is a convenient location for web-users to get information about the World Music Show, and find out about interesting, educational activities around Houston and Southeast Texas.

The goal of the organization is to promote cultural literacy and to connect web-users with other valuable resources on the Internet.

Lacy has chaired many committees, which organized successful events and fund-raisers. These have included month-long festivals, international lectures, and a campaign to send an athlete to the Paralympic Games in Seoul, Korea.
