John has dedicated over a decade to advancing the mission of writing centers and has enriched his expertise through teaching composition and creative writing courses. Recently appointed as the Director of the Writing Center, he is committed to steering the center towards excellence, fostering a nurturing environment for both consultants and students. John holds degrees from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and Columbia University. Beyond his administrative and pedagogical pursuits, John is deeply involved in the literary community, editing a well-regarded literary magazine and hosting a popular podcast that explores the nuances of writing.

Rachel Matlock

Rachel Matlock holds a B.A. in English, Literature from the University of Houston, where she worked part time as a writing consultant for the Writing Center. Post graduation, she spent several years as a high school English teacher, teaching courses ranging from Reading Intervention to Pre-Advanced Placement. In addition to her experiences working directly with students, she also has experience as English department head, working alongside colleagues to refine curriculum according to best practices and student needs. Rachel is passionate about providing students with the resources and skills they need to be independent, confident writers, and returning to the Writing Center as assistant director allows Rachel to pursue this mission at the collegiate level.

Lorinda Robb

Lorinda Robb holds a B. A. in English, Creative Writing, and a M. A. in English and American Literature Studies from the University of Houston. As a Teaching Assistant in the UH English Department, she taught Freshman Composition I and II. She serves as Assistant Director of the Writing Center’s General Services programs for students. She also continues to support students’ success by effectively managing an array of the center’s Writing In The Disciplines partnerships with the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Technology, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Architecture. In conjunction with other staff, Lorinda also contributes to planning writing consultant education and activities.

ShaTriece Walker

ShaTriece Walker holds a B.A. in English, Literature, and an M.A. in English, Rhetoric and Composition from Clark Atlanta University, as well as an Ed.D. in Executive Educational Leadership from Houston Christian University. As an educator, she has taught high school English including Advanced Placement Language and Advanced Placement Literature, as well Dual Credit English across community colleges in the Houston area. She has also completed research in English with a dissertation that focuses on analyzing best practices to teach formal writing skills across various Advanced Placement content area courses. ShaTriece has a knack for writing and her role as an Assistant Director of the Writing Center allows her to continue to support her students by providing them with techniques needed to enhance their writing for both collegiate and professional environments.

Bex D. Wilson

Bex Wilson earned a B.A. in English with honors from Texas A&M University with a minor in Film Studies. While completing their undergraduate, Bex worked at A&M's University Writing Center for three years, gaining valuable experience as a consultant and earning a Level III Master Tutor distinction from the College Reading and Learning Association. While consulting, they regularly attended and presented at the National Conference for Peer Tutoring in Writing and developed a chapter for publication focused on implementing movement into Writing Center research. In addition, Bex has experience in student teaching high school ELA and intensive leadership training and experience through Texas A&M's Freshman Leadership Advisory Council and Student Activities. Working at UH's Writing Center is exactly where Bex wants to be, and they are excited to focus on developing writing consultants to best serve both undergrad and graduate student needs.

Logan Bao Nguyen

Logan Nguyen earned his B.S. degree from the University of Houston, majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. During his studies, he delved into Information Security and Project Management through a master’s program at the College of Technology. While at UH, he served as a Technical Support Specialist for the Writing Center Department. Subsequently, he transitioned to a full-time role as a Systems Analyst in 2004 and later became a LAN Administrator in 2008. Logan holds certification as a Project Management Professional and currently serves as the Technology Director at the Writing Center. In this capacity, he oversees the web and application development team, ensuring that technology effectively supports the Writing Center’s mission at UH. Outside of work, Logan enjoys running in natural settings and listening to music.
