Office of Sustainability Relaunches its Blog

The Office of Sustainability has resurrected its online blog and plans to fill it with all sorts of valuable information.

The sustainability blog made its return at the end of May with a post about National Biking Month that included information about biking initiatives taking place in the city of Houston.

An upcoming post is planned about gardening that will include details about the community garden adjacent to Cougar Woods Dining Hall.

The blog was created in 2011, but has been inactive for a couple of years until last month. Sarah Kelly, program manager for the Office of Sustainability, said new blog entries will be added every one or two weeks.

"We'll have all sorts of information, from tips on living greener to sustainability initiatives on campus and across the city," Kelly said. "We're also open to suggestions from the campus community about what they would like to see."

Most of the blog entries will be written by Nicole Blanton, a student worker in the Office of Sustainability. Readers can go to the blog and sign up to receive email notifications for when a new entry is posted.

The Office of Sustainability also expects to launch a newsletter in the fall semester. It will be a monthly online publication that will feature the latest entries from the blog, along with information about sustainability events on campus and across the city, details about student research, information about job opportunities and ways to live greener.
