Anyone observing, involved in, or who in any other manner becomes aware of a violent incident (Robbery, Sexual Assault, Shooting, Kidnapping, Car Jacking, etc.) on campus is requested to immediately notify the University of Houston Police Department (UHPD) by calling 911. Identify yourself to the police dispatcher and stay on the phone with him / her as long as your safety permits. The dispatcher will request information on the location (building and room number) and nature of the incident, description of any weapons used or displayed, description of all involved parties (both the assailant and victim), and a description of any vehicles involved in the incident.

The initial police response to any violent situation is based on the nature of the incident as reported. Remaining on the phone with the dispatcher as long a possible will allow the dispatcher to update the responding officers as the situation changes.
