Two EAS Professors to Receive Awards from AAPG


Dupre and Mann Recognized

Two professors in the University of Houston’s Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences have been selected to receive awards from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, an international, professional organization with 38,000 members in over 100 countries.

Dr. William Dupre, who has been with the EAS Department since 1976, will receive the AAPG Public Service Award for his work on educating government officials and the public on the causes of flooding hazards during Harvey and other major storms in the Houston area. Funding for the award is provided by AAPG.

Paul Mann

Paul Mann

Dr. Paul Mann, who has been with the EAS Department since 2011, will receive the Grover E. Murray Memorial Distinguished Educator Award for his contributions to the teaching and advising of EAS students at the graduate and undergraduate level. The award is funded by the AAPG Foundation Awards Fund though a generous contribution by Dr. and Mrs. Grover Murray.

Both Dupre and Mann will receive their awards in June 2020 at the AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition in Houston.
