As a public Institution, the University of Houston works to maintain a positive campus environment that promotes equal access to all.
The following statements are approved by the Office of the President. Any questions regarding these statements should be directed to the Office of General Counsel at (713) 743-0949.
Equal Opportunity (EO) Statements
The following Equal Opportunity statement should be used in all UH brochures and advertisements:
The University of Houston provides equal treatment and opportunity to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including gender and pregnancy), genetic information, age (over 40), disability, military status, sexual orientation, gender identity or status, gender expression, or any other legally protected status except where such distinction is required by law.
The following short version of the Equal Opportunity statement can be used in place of the longer version in all small brochures and advertisements:
The University of Houston is an Equal Opportunity institution. Everyone is encouraged to apply.
If space in your advertisement is extremely limited—to the extent that the above statement is not legible—the words "Equal Opportunity" may be replaced with "EO" as follows:
The University of Houston is an EO institution.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA Statement)
The following ADA statement should be used on all invitations, announcements and marketing or promotional pieces for special events. Fill in the name or office, phone number and date accordingly.
Persons with disabilities who desire accommodations should contact (name or office) at (phone number) by (date).
or
Accommodations on the basis of disability are available by calling (name or office) at (phone number) by (date).

About the University of Houston System
The University of Houston System (UHS) is the region’s largest provider of comprehensive university services, serving more than 72,000 students annually and producing a $7-billion impact on the Greater Houston economy each year. UHS includes four separate institutions – the University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, University of Houston-Downtown, and University of Houston-Victoria – as well as several teaching centers across Greater Houston. Each university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. UHS also operates Houston Public Media, which includes a National Public Radio station and PBS affiliate. For more information, see UHS.
