STRINGS

Collaborative, Supportive, Empowering.
A dynamic, internationally recognized artist faculty and robust solo, chamber music and orchestral performance opportunities for our students.

The Strings Area at the Moores School of Music boasts an internationally renowned faculty of pedagogues with vast experience in orchestral, chamber, and solo repertoire. Our faculty are committed to providing students with a rich and personalized educational experience, equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed in a diverse and collaborative musical landscape—whether they are pursuing a career in music performance, music education, entrepreneurship, or in the field of arts administration. Our graduates have won positions with major US orchestras, founded internationally recognized chamber ensembles, won major competitions, and teach at prestigious universities, conservatories, and music schools across the world.

At MSM, students engage in private lessons and chamber ensembles, explore ground-breaking contemporary music through the AURA Contemporary Ensemble, share the stage with faculty in the Mosaic Ensemble and Moores Cello Ensemble, perform in the staged productions of MSM’s award-winning Moores Opera, and deepen their understanding of core repertoire in the Moores School Symphony Orchestras.
Believing that broader exposure to outstanding artists in the professional world is essential to our students’ growth and development, we regularly bring acclaimed guest artists from around the world to our campus to work with our students. Additionally, MSM students enjoy access to the vibrant and diverse arts offerings of the nation’s fourth largest city, including the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, and numerous professional ensembles and organizations.
