Healing Arts Houston: Innovation in Arts & Health Launch Event

Friday, January 21, 2022

8:00 am - 7:00 pm

Innovations in Arts and Health: Collaborating for Medical Humanities, Professional Development and Community Health is a collaboration between the College of Medicine and the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts at the University of Houston.

Part of the World Health Organization’s Solidarity Series of Events, the “The Future is Unwritten: Healing Arts” series – produced by CULTURUNNERS – is a cultural call-to-action echoing around the world in response to COVID-19 and the mental crisis unfolding in its wake. The initiative was launched in 2020 in partnership with the WHO Foundation and World Council of Peoples for the United Nations. Additional city activations are occurring in London, Venice, Paris, New York, Houston, New Delhi, and Aspen during 2021 and 2022.

Innovations in Arts and Health will further establish Houston and the University of Houston as global forces in the area of innovative education and practice in the health sciences and arts. The conference will feature Houston-based artists, health care professionals, medical educators, and scholars working at the forefront of arts and health integration. The three-day program includes lectures, demonstrations, performances, workshops, and six feature presentations. More details will be announced on this site.

Innovations in Arts and Health runs from January 20-October 1 and is open to the public. Practicing artists, health care professionals, scholars, and medical educators from the academic and institutional communities, and members of community-based arts or health organizations are welcome to attend. Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is available for physicians.
