7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

6:30-7:30pm, Special extended Blaffer Art Museum hours

7:30-8:30pm, Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin, Performance Lecture

Location: Wilhelmina Grove (Located off Cullen Boulevard at Entrance 16, just in front of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts)

Nick Vaughan & Jake Margolin will present an hour-long multi-media performance lecture inspired by their series of large-scale wind and charcoal drawings that anchor their solo exhibition “Wayfinding” at the Blaffer Art Museum.

This unconventional artist talk explores Vaughan & Margolin’s archival and community-based research practice, highlighting the areas where the artists feel they “find poetry in the wind-swept scorched landscape of our queer forbearers.” “Because There Was No Wind” will be the eighth in Nick & Jake’s ongoing series of performance lectures inspired by their “50 States Project”. Previous works in the series have been presented in Houston at The Alley Theatre, The Julia Ideson Building at the Houston Public Library, Art League Houston, DiverseWorks, and the gay bar Michael’s Outpost.

The Second of two performance lectures held in conjunction with the exhibition Wayfinding: Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin. Parking: Free parking for this event is available via the six complimentary marked lot spots directly in front of the museum entrance. Paid guest parking is available at the Elgin Street Garage parking (4224 Elgin Street). Learn more: https://blafferartmuseum.org/nick-and-jake/
