Intimacy Coordination Seminar with Alicia Rodis (HBO)
Thursday, September 17, 2020
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance is pleased to announce an online seminar with Alicia Rodis (Intimacy Coordinator, HBO), as part of a series of conversations investigating intimacy in the performing arts, and celebrating the artists on the vanguard of the movement in the United States.
Ms. Rodis is an intimacy director, intimacy coordinator, fight director, SAG-AFTRA stunt performer, and actor with over 20 years of professional experience. Most recently she has been at the forefront of the intimacy coordination movement in film and television, where she has been consulting on best practices both nationally and internationally. She has served as intimacy coordinator for “The Deuce” on HBO, as well as “Watchmen,” “Westworld,” “High Maintenance,” and “The Plot Against America,” along with a number of other television shows and films currently in production.
Her other fight direction & intimacy choreography credits include Yale School of Drama, New York University, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, New York Shakespeare Exchange, Wright State University, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, New York Shakespeare Project, and PACE University, among others. Ms. Rodis is currently a guest artist at Julliard, implementing their intimacy program for students and faculty, and a consultant for the NYU Film department. She is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, and the founder of GALHALLA NYC, an all-female fight training group in New York City.
