4 - 5 p.m. • MSM 160, FREE “(re)Discovering African-American Composer William Dawson (1899-1990)” — An appreciation, featuring Joseph Horowitz, musicologist and author; Anne Lundy, director, Scott Joplin Orchestra and Community Music Academy; Lucius R. Wyatt, retired professor, Prairie View A&M University, and personal friend of the composer. Moderated by Moores Professor of Musicology, Howard Pollack.

6:30 – 7:15 p.m. • MSM 108 Settling the Score: “The Fate of Black Classical Music,” with Joseph Horowitz, guest musicologist and author of Dvorak’s Prophecy: And the Vexed Fate of Black Classical Music (2021).
